They're two films that couldn't be targeting more widely different audiences. Less than one month from release, the 3D re-release of one of the biggest films in history will square off against the remake of a cult classic.

 

On paper, the clear favorite is Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park 3D. Twenty years ago, that film wowed audiences on its way to becoming the second-highest grossing film in North American history and the biggest ever worldwide. The all-time charts have since changed dramatically, butJurassic's place in the hearts of moviegoers across all ages hasn't lost its splendor.

On paper, the favorite has to be Evil Dead. Jurassic Park is a 3D re-release. Those have been cancelled and flopping left and right. Universal probably regrets this decision.

To be honest, I'd consider it more of an upset if JP3D beat Evil Dead, really.

JP may be a 3D re-release, but Evil Dead is still Evil Dead. Not many outside the Internet know of the original movie.

Yes, but the trailer is doing insanely well among younger people. I know a ton of college students and some high schoolers that had never heard of the original, but want to see this one.

I still think Evil Dead will prove to be too nasty for today's Paranormal Activity- horror movie crowd

It's not really an upset unless you think Jurassic Park is going to make more than Phantom Menace or Titanic.

I love Jurassic Park, but I can't really think of any extended scenes in it that screams "This should be in 3D". Maybe T-Rex terrorizing the children in the car. But that's at night and the glasses add to the gloom as well.
