It is squeezed in between Captain America and Spiderman 2 in Australia.

500k in 4 days is bad. It's not because Twilight and THG got similar numbers that it makes it mediocre.

The first Twilight made 200M OS, and the sequels made 400M-500M OS each. People forget how huge Twilight was. Not really fair to compare Divergent to it yet. Maybe when the sequel comes out? :wacko:

Well now i can't wait to read Queen of the Tearling!

It comes out in just 3 months and something!

The plot is very interesting and already a movie is in development with WB,David heyman as producer and EMMA WATSON as the star of the film!

:D

Early reviews are positive and they compare it with Game of thrones.

But I didn't, the other guy did. Did you read the whole thread?

You can fool all the people all the time if your budget is large enough.

Isn't the huge OS rollout this weekend? What markets has it been released in already?

ETA: I saw the release dates, they must be expecting a lot from European countries this weekend?

What's wrong to compare? We do it here all the time. They are movies YA movies, Percy Jackson, Twilight and Hunger Games can be compared by the "size" of the film.

Divergent has some very strong pre-sales for today over here. Seems to be far above last week's CA2 OD. Walkouts may be shit, tho.

Yeah, walkouts were non-existent. Benfica and Porto playing in Europa League didn't helped either.

I think you mean walk-ins, walkouts would mean leaving the film in the middle of the showing.

Divergent starts slow in Italy, only 101k euros and 16300 adm in opening day, despite a massive marketing campaign and a big number of screens.

Did this just bomb internationally? With an $85m budget and at least the same for prints and advertising, this seems guaranteed to finish in the red. I think they should have released it day and date worldwide.

Yeah it doesn't look to do great overseas. Wouldn't be surprised if they decide to go 3D for the next one

Budget = 85M + 50M (prints, advertising and marketing) = 135M

Gain = 57M (BO DOM) + 65M (Sales for International distribuitors) = 122M

135-122= 13M

They just need more 26M in BO DOM for starts give profit.

PS: Lionsgate don't receive more nothing by international box office.

I feel like they spent way more than $50m on P&A. It was massively advertised. Possibly as much as the production budget.
