It wasn't much of a game, but movie fans received an idea of what to expect from some of this summer's biggest tentpoles. Without much debate, the discussion belongs to three flicks whose Super Bowl spots generated a veritable frenzy among the online crowd: Captain America: The Winter SoldierThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

The big winner was the Captain America sequel as it posted an incredible 113,388 tweets over the last 48 hours thanks to an action-packed and (well-themed) spot that has fans greatly anticipating its April 4 release. Thanks largely to the so-called "Avengers bump", The Winter Soldier can safely expect to benefit from the same goodwill that Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World did last year. The first Captain pic grossed $176.7 million domestically back in Summer 2011, a figure that Winter Soldier is looking more and more likely to build on with Disney's pre-summer release strategy.

The runner-up of the bunch was June 27's Transformers: Age of Extinction... (more)

That is kinda shitty for TASM2, but I am not surprised since the spot itself was shit.

should have aired the first part of the spot. It was a lot better. Still at least it is getting a shitload of views on Youtube

Yeah, the first part was amazing. This second part was far worse.

The spots sucked at generating  buzz this year. I read an article online somewhere that said this was the first year in like a decade that none of the movie spots broke into the top 10 most popular SB commercials.

Number of movie ads during the actual game were a lot less then in the past;a lot of the studios prefered to buy time in the pre game show which is not as painfully expensive as the 4 million dollars a minute cost in the game itself.

And Warners did not,for the second year in a row, buy any time. Apperently they have decided that the buzz generated by a Superbowl ad is not worth the huge price tag and think the money can be spent elsewhere.

About that, here is how I've watched the Super Bowl spot for the first time:A lot better, isn't it?I wish they'd put the full 1 minute teaser at the Super Bowl, that would make this trailer the most effective no questions asked, but they went with the second part of the trailer instead. I don't think the 2nd ad isn't as good as the 1st, I think both are incomplete without each other. But then again I agree, if they had released the first part at the Super Bowl and the second part online, it'd have flowed better. Regardless, I've heard nothing but positive and excited reactions for both Spidey and Cap next films so it's all good.

I don't think it's better. I clearly see that as 2 different spots. Excluding the logo at the start of the second, the music cut at the middle and there is a climax at the end of the first part so clearly it acts as the end of spot.

For me, it's 2 separate spots which aren't really meant to be together. Ok there aren't the same sequences in the two but you have a glimpse of all villains and major action scenes in each part.

The first part was better and should have been shown on the SB. The second one is good too but a different editing would have been better because for people that had seen that start by the Gwen fall, it must have been weird. It's not the kind of thing that happens in the beginning.

So they should have done only part 1 or a 1-minute spot but better edited than that.

I think my main point was that the second part works better as a bonus to the first part, and not the other way around. Regardless, I think it has been a great piece of marketing, especially the sizzle reel that the tv spot leads to.

The Captain America spot was the only good one IMO.

Not the only good one, but definitively the best. If we only consider the spot, the CA spot with the national anthem and its position on the night (not a random break) was great. I wish I could have seen it live on my TV

The reason why several people haven't actually seen the Captain America's TV spot is exactly because it was before the game so yeah, while it sounds great as an idea, it would be more effective if it was played during the game, and not before.
