Next week (openers only):

Taken 2: 45.5
Frankenweenie: 15.5
Pitch Perfect: 8.0
Zyzzyx Road: OW-10 dollars
Total gross-20 dollars

Who were Henry the VIII and the Duke of Earl? Unsure-but they must of been great to have songs about them.

I could see Pitch Perfect beating Frankenweenie this weekend.

I agree. Fortunately, I'd be shocked if Frankenweenie doesn't become a cult hit. (Mind the unintentional pun)

"You can have all the faith in spirits and the afterlife, heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot, because you can tell that you put your faith in God to get through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways."

"How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned."

Screened a lot of these movies at advance screenings, and I've included my ratings of them next to my predictions for this weekend. No spoilers, I promise.

1: Taken 2 (Thumbs Down!)
2: Frankenweenie (Thumbs Up!)
3: Hotel Transylvania (Thumbs Down!)
4: Pitch Perfect (Thumbs Down!)
5: Looper (Thumbs Up!)
6: End of Watch (Thumbs Up!)
7: Trouble with the Curve (Thumbs Down!)
8: House at the End of the Street (Thumbs Down!)
9: Finding Nemo 3D (Great Movie)
10: The Master (Thumbs Up!)

My highest rating is Great Movie, which indicates an all-time favorite, followed by Thumbs Up!, Thumbs Down!, and Most Hated. This is practically the same rating system that Roger Ebert uses, sans the stars.

Puns on the titles coming soon! :)

4. Pitch Perfect - $18.7 million
5. End of Watch - $5.1 million

Frankenweenie - 11.3M
Taken 2 - 35.2M
Pitch Perfect - 26.5M

It's a shame Hotel Transylvania wasn't this week because then we'd have a situation like The Vow/Safe House/Journey 2 weekend where there was something appealing for everyone.

You guys are going really low on Frankenweenie. Am I totally over-shooting it?

Yes, it is a stop-motion movie in black & white.

I know it had Johnny Depp and faced less competition but Corpse Bride opened with $19.5M. I guess I'm just adjusting to what that would make today. I really don't think the stop motion or black and white will a big deal. I think 3D can put it over 20. High teens at the very least.

I'm almost certain that "Frankenweenie" will out-gross "Pitch Perfect". Question is, will it be able to make more than "Hotel Transylvania" this weekend? Thoughts?

Not even close. :(

Frankenweenie is going to have more appeal for young adults/Burton fans than most kids, IMO.

Is Pitch having really any marketing? I guess on shows like "glee"
Zyzzyx Road: OW-10 dollars
Total gross-20 dollars

Who were Henry the VIII and the Duke of Earl? Unsure-but they must of been great to have songs about them.

I've seen plenty of ads for all three openers this weekend.

For me nothing for Pitch.
Actually the only other October film that I've seen anything for really is Argo, still not a lot though.
